slippin and a slidin'

So we start driving(me and my mom and bro) down the street to a stop sign..and we start sliding. We almost hit something but i ultimately decided it was not worth going to work today. darnit. I havent stayed home 2 days in a row from work and school since before the new years. lol im getting cabin fever. i was really looking forward to going to work today and see my pals. bah. but i figured if we could barely make it down the street w/o sliding, how can we make it to marshalls?
so i called in and suggested to my boss for someone to come pick me up. he just gave me attitude and and said "oook..bye." pssh. i can work. i want to work. im just not driving in this shit. no way.
So i was really disspointed so i chilled and watched the cable tv for a while. i got into this show called "history's mysteries" on the history channel. The episode dealt with mostly the salem with trials.
since my Junior year of high school when i first read the crucible, i have been wildly obsessed with those trials. For the last 2 years of high school, thats all i read about. I did my senior paper on the witch trials.
A while ago, i saw a special on the coolest station ever, PBS, about wot some reseachers think about the true cause of the hysteria in the girls. They put the blame on some kind of fungus that grew on the wheat. This fungus is eaten, would act like LSD on a persons brain. Which fit the characteristcs of the girls actions. quite interesting.
It just astounds me.
I mean "witch hunts" still happen today. The last big witch hunt had to be the red scare of the 1950s. It just goes to show that as much as we as a human race think we have evolved, history is doomed to repeat itself to some extent. I mean sure, some people do realize the mistakes of the past and try not to repeat them, but those people are often concidered to be the outcasts. The crazy ones. I sometimes fear the majority of people cannot see where the future is going. They are so scared to think outside the box, that they are willing to give up freedoms or anything else because a person of authority says that we have to. This is just so mind blowing to me. I believe each person HAS to think for themself. It is YOUR life. You have to decide how you are going to choose to live it.
If you decide to live it for someone else then you will never really know what real happiness is and/or what true satisfaction in life feels like.

Date: 2003-02-26 12:42 pm (UTC)I don't tell many people this, but as far as humans being evolved and all that. . .I honestly think that life on this planet was an accident. I don't believe in God or any type of higher power, so I don't believe we were put here for a purpose. So I really scoff at the idea of humans being civilized or evolved or intelligent beings.
But, I am aware of the irony of my beliefs. . .because I don't live according to what I believe. If I did, I don't think I would be a very nice person.
Just thought I would say that because, I don't know, haha.
