It was a bacteria called Ergot, referred to as Ergot poisoning and is not uncommon even today.
I don't tell many people this, but as far as humans being evolved and all that. . .I honestly think that life on this planet was an accident. I don't believe in God or any type of higher power, so I don't believe we were put here for a purpose. So I really scoff at the idea of humans being civilized or evolved or intelligent beings.
But, I am aware of the irony of my beliefs. . .because I don't live according to what I believe. If I did, I don't think I would be a very nice person.
Just thought I would say that because, I don't know, haha.
