So I can feel clean, the sky is barren

Sitting on a hundred year old sidewalk edge
I count the scuffs on my shoe
and grow frustrated because I feel dirty
because it turns out there are more stars
in a texas night. and I eventually rationalize
that the sky has more room even though i have
big feet for a girl and I crack my fingernail
tapping it on the grumpy sidewalk
waiting for the unfertile sky to make an apparence
so i can finally see you.
