im thinking of putting a digital camera on one of our wedding registeries. however, i really know NOTHING about digital cameras. What should i look for in a camera pixel wise? anyone know?
Anything Cannon! I've been sold by their wonderment, and they have cool features like color replacement that you can't get with anything else. I'm really fond of Nikon, but you can't get a good one unless you want to put down a big chunk a' money, which I dunno how much you're expecting someone else to spend :P
Sony's good too, but they seem to run pretty expensive for what they are. Overall, cannon's my fav. I have a 1000 series whatever that cost $300, it's 7.1 MP just the best damn thing, and perfectly tiny. The SD card you can typically get for under $30 for a 2gig (1000+ pics haha), but I do recommend an additional battery if you plan on going out on long photo excursions.
nikons and canons are fabulous - 6+ megapixels are what i would recommend - those are good for 8x10 prints and up. also make sure it has some sort of optical zoom - cameras with only digital zoom are no good for zooming! visit dpreview.com - they have really awesome reviews both by a professional and then everyday users. you can also go onto flickr and look at the 'camera finder' and look up the camera you're eyeing and it'll show you 'interesting' pictures from that specific camera. :]
